Mission & Voice
What we're here to do, and how we sound doing it. The lexicon on this page is used verbatim — those lines are settled, and paraphrasing them costs us more than it saves. Everything else is guidance for writing well as Proper Sky.
The mission

To prove that mission-driven IT beats margin-driven IT.Our mission
The lexicon
Use these verbatim where they fit. Don't paraphrase them — the specific wording is the point.
We build IT around your business — not the other way around.
IT the Proper Way™
No BS. Just Proper IT.
From Philadelphia with love.
Not for contracts, SOWs or formal proposals.
The five core values
Set in caps when listed as values. Never as caps in running paragraph text.
The 3 Uniques™
What separates us. These are differentiators, not values — don't file them under the five above.
Your Business Comes First. Always.
We measure success in people helped, not tickets closed.
Delivering Value >> Generating Profit.
How we sound
Direct and plainspoken
Short sentences over long. Active over passive. Cut the hedging — no "we believe," no "we feel that," no "in our opinion." Just say it.
Anti-jargon
No acronyms as a moat. If a technical term is unavoidable, define it inline in plain English. Build bridges, not barriers.
Confident, not boastful
Show competence through specifics, outcomes, and what actually happened. Not adjectives. Well done is better than well said.
Warm and human
Treat every reader like the situation matters to them, because to the person on the other end it does.
Signal, not noise
Motion isn't action. Avoid hype. If a sentence can be cut without losing meaning, cut it.
Light personality
Dry wit, gentle self-awareness, occasional warmth. Never at the client's or a team member's expense.
In practice
The same idea, written two ways.
Sounds like us
- “Your email is the front door. We lock it.”
- “Phishing tests every quarter. Real ones. We send them; we coach the misses.”
- “We measure success in people helped, not tickets closed.”
- “From Philadelphia with love.”
Doesn't
- “We leverage cutting-edge email security solutions to empower your organization.”
- “Robust, world-class anti-phishing training journey.”
- “Our CSAT scores prove customer-centricity.”
- “Best regards, the Proper Sky family.”
Casing & mechanics
Words we cut
Not banned outright, but each one is a signal that the sentence is doing less than it looks like it's doing.
